A story of how I went into a new lifestyleIt was about 2017. I remember it pretty clearly, and remember the feeling that almost made me throw up. Before you guys think THIS IS INTENSE, WHAT HAPPENED, it wasn’t that crazy. I got myself so worked up over something, I was so pissed off that my stomach felt this extreme knot that I couldn’t let go of.
I walked into the office, and there was the new guy.
I want to start this with an open letter to all the managers that have ever given me a hard time or made life difficult, anxious, or troubling…
Thank You
Without your subpar guidance, I wouldn’t have left and wouldn’t have found something better. Many people will say “what doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger”. While this is true, it wasn’t you that made me stronger. It was you who made me realise that your management style isn’t suitable for me, and made me make the move elsewhere.
Success is having to worry about every single damn thing, except for money - Johnny Cash
2021 I managed to completely strike the career and life lottery. I gave up my life in Leeds to move back to Northern Ireland where I ended up with a few nice things:
Moved back in with parents so didn’t have to pay rent - overall saving a lot Wife and I managed to find a house that we want, and have started saving and putting money towards it I left my last job, and got a higher paying job Not only was it higher paying, it was also less stressful.
A while ago, we had a client in my current job which had very little monitoring of their solutions. We had problems with the boxes where it would freeze and not really give us an answer as to what happened. Now the fix for that was actually quite trivial (and had nothing to do with what we thought it would be), but it’s a good reminder that we should always have a nice monitoring solution to have a view of what services are running and what aren’t.
This sounds like a pretty silly post as I’m certain most people know how to use a cup. Hear me out though because you do want to follow the company’s guidelines on what you can and can’t do with the cup etc. So first off let’s start with a word of advice:
This is NOT a flask, it’s a cup. DO NOT put boiling water in and seal it - that’s not what it’s for.
I was in the market for a really nice travel mug. I’ve had something like a flask/mug before from Thermos, and it was truly exceptional. The price of it was lovely too, but there was just one thing wrong with that flask… it was clunky. Quite clumsy looking, and way too big for what I wanted it for.
I’m not really a person who drinks a massive quantity of coffee, therefore as a whole, I would never consume 470ml of coffee in one sitting, same with tea.
